End of 2009 Recap – Chapter 2

By | Corporate Events, Event Industry, Murphy, Personal Favorites | No Comments

You can read below about the craziness of December. Once you do, you will realize why we need to split all the shoots we have at the end of the year in separate blog posts. This is chapter 2 in this post covers a few more days of PWP world…

I already created a blog post for the NACE (National Association of Catering Executives) event at the Hard Rock, so just a teaser….

The next big event was Solvay Pharmaceuticals’ holiday party at the Cobb Galleria. It was smashing – everyone really had a good time at this huge event!

While I was prepping gear for the big party at the Galleria, Angel was over visiting some friends and caught these adorable pics of their boys, Lyle and Cook.

The last event in this chapter of the recap is one of the most visually stunning events I have captured in a good long while. This was another event  created by the event industry for the event industry;  this time it was for EXPO!EXPO! – a convention for industry professionals dealing with LARGE events. I saw some really neat new ideas…

PWP Studio was an event sponsor – nothing I like more than seeing our super-fancy PWP logo on display at an event where thousands of convention planners are the audience!

Oh yea, Murphy also learned how to play chess in December…err, freestyle chess!

So, check back soon – I still have at least two more end of the year recap chapters to cover: a wedding in Costa Rica, more Holiday parties, and the first wedding at a HOT new venue in midtown! Busy busy busy!!!

Green…road trips and gift boxes.

So I was digging through some home videos on my hard drive recently and came across some videos I created on the Green theme a while back. Fun and funny.

Some know and some don’t – we are greenies over here at PWP. Not tree-hugging hippee types – too many black clothes and hair products to qualify – just plain aware and actively participating in our immediate environment. We recycle. We switched to reusable bottles almost two years ago – which puts us in the “Saved more than 2,000 plastic bottles” club. Switched to rechargeable batteries. PWP Studio is a member of the Green Meeting Industry Council. All the shipping materials in the office are recycled or reused, and we offset every shipment we make with carbon offsets. There is a list a mile long, but the bottom line is: we make the effort!

Anywho, here is some interesting info and maybe a new idea for you on the subjects of driving like a grandma (no offense grandmas) and recycling (the act of not recycling, really)….

If you haven’t had enough and want a pure laugh that would let you in on the PWP dark/dork side….the Devil Went Down to Georgia style:

End of 2009 Recap – Chapter 1

Never fails: November flips on the calendar and it is like some imaginary Spock-like person somewhere hits a magic button for hyperdrive. BAM!! Everything blurs and suddenly it is New Year’s Eve – the last two months of the year just disappear! I would like to say that we keep on top of it in November and December with relaxed control, but that is just not true. We do everything we can to just hold on for the ride and make sure our clients keep smiling and stay happy.

2009 was no exception. The evidence is right here before you: it is January 15 and I am blogging about November and December. Just crazy busy…and busy is GOOD.

Let’s start early November in San Antonio for the UTA Annual Convention. This association has invited PWP Studio to capture their annual convention for six years straight in six cities – at this point our clients are old friends. It was my first time at the Alamo!

When I returned from Texas, our friends at Affairs to Remember had us over to capture new images of their latest fantastic showroom design.

Then, Murphy took me for a ride!

The next event was the 30th Anniversary Celebration for PFMoon – a Georgia-based construction company. PFMoon also recognized the retirement of their president and founder, Philip Moon. Thanks go out to Cathy and the YES team for an incredible decor display!

I was absolutely amazed – they actually created a ice sculpture of a bulldozer live while the crowd watched – INCREDIBLE!

Shortly after, I was standing in the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Buckhead for the Brownell Travel Annual Meeting. The theme was teamwork, and they really showed their spirit!

Lastly, Angel and I took photos of the Jaquin girls for family Christmas portraits and presents – SO CUTE!!

More chapters will be coming soon – we captured more than 30 events and our photographers took over 20,000 pictures the last two months of the year! Let me say again…BUSY IS GOOD!!!
